英國「經濟學人」日前發表一篇分析台灣選情的文章，指出立場傾向台獨的蔡英文如果勝選，中國大陸的軍方勢力可能會促使國家主席習近平對台施壓。
對此，親民黨總統候選人宋楚瑜10日回應媒體詢問時表示，只要他當選，兩岸就會和平，台灣人會放心、美國人不必操心、英國人也不必擔心台灣會有重大變化。
宋楚瑜說，他當總統會把民主更深化、經濟會做好，讓大家安心過日子；他也會堅定地跟對岸說，兩岸要和平，台灣現在沒有跟大陸馬上統一的條件。
